Activities at Gryta

Boats, Baths and Fishing

We have several boats, kayaks and a tramp boat which our guests can use free of charge. Life wests are mandatory and required by law for people of all ages. These are available in the reception.

Remember that the lake is pure glacier water and very cold at all times. Because of this we do not recommend jumping in from the boat if you fancy a swim. A quick bath by the shore can however be really refreshing on a warm day, but always keep company.

Fishing license

To try your luck fishing in the lake a license is required. This can be bought in the reception. There are som really nice small trouts in the lake and we know where you can get them.

As previous goat farmers we made a small area to keep a few goats on our camp site. These are very majestic and very social with big horns. It is said that they can understand any language by now

The playground is situated just outside the reception area for the joy of both children and parents.

We have a volleyball field, that can also be used for badminton or football. However when traffic is at its peak we can use this area also as a camp ground for camper vans

Mountain Hike

There are plenty of possible hikes in our area and one has its starting point directly from the camp site. Ask us for a tour map and we will do our best to help you find a hike suitable for you and your company

Activities in our area

Briksdals glacier

Most of our guests comes here to see this glacier and the magnificent nature and waterfalls in Briksdal.

Briksdal is about 10 km from Gryta Camping. Here you will find a Cafè and Restaurant, souvenir shop og “troll cars” that will help you get closer to the glacier if you do not want to walk all the way.

Organised glacier walks, Kayaking or RIB excursions

Briksdal Adventure organises guided activities in the area

In Loen, only 20 minutes by car from Gryta Camping you will find activities for the sporty as well as for those more laid back of us.

This is a very popular mountain hike for those fit and used to walk mountains. It takes about 8 hours up and down and can be very challenging.

Via Ferrata

Via Ferrata is a very sporty adventure for fit and sporty people. Much of the hike is actually climbing and you will pass a wire bridge with a free fall of 160 meters beneeth. On the top you can enjoy a nice meal before you take the Skylift back down, or you may choose to walk a long gravel road back down.
Propper gear is required for safety reasons (can be rented) and guide is recommended

For those more laid back of us we can reach the same destination as the Via Ferrata by the cable cars “Loen Skylift”. The ride takes 5 minutes each way and on the top you can enjoy a panorama view while being entertained with good food and wine

Spa at Hotel Alexandra

What better on a rainy day than to treat yourself with a spa day at the luxurious Hotel Alexandra. Spend some time on their baths, treat yourself to a massage and enjoy fine dining. Just make sure you book in advance.

Day trips
